Advocacy Initiatives

Prevent Child Abuse Iowa strengthens families for Iowa’s future. We believe that healthy, vibrant communities provide nurturing environments for kids. Our statewide network provides expertise in child abuse prevention to create a stronger, healthier Iowa. Prevent Child Abuse Iowa requests consideration of the following legislative actions in support of Iowa’s children and families.

The Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program sends trained professionals - parents, nurses and case managers - into the homes of at-risk moms to provide support and education. The program currently serves 649 Iowa families each year resulting in 92% of children up-to-date on their well-child exams and a 23% increase in employment among caregivers.

We share in support of the proposed 5-year reauthorization and urge you to contact your local legistlators in support of this important program.
