Responsible Fatherhood Initiative

As part of the CBCAP programing,  the Iowa Department of Human Services is excited to announce the Responsible Fatherhood Initiative. In an ongoing effort to develop a continuum of prevention services and resources that strengthen and support families, this initiative will be administered through Prevent Child Abuse Iowa.  The Responsible Fatherhood Initiative is intended to support CPPC sites in developing, operating, expanding, and coordinating  local fatherhood programs and activities.  The initiative will build on the capacity of local CPPC sites to actively engage fathers in innovative and responsible ways.

A part of the Responsible Fatherhood Initiative includes the offering of three 24/7 Dad Facilitator Trainings which will serve to assist CPPC sites in piloting the 24/7 Dad curriculum and/or expand existing fatherhood efforts.  CPPC sites are encouraged to work with their community partners to ensure that the 24/7 Dad program can be sustained once this training is received.

24/7 Dad Facilitator Training

This training is being offered through the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI).  Erik Vecere, who presented at this year’s Child Abuse Prevention Conference, will deliver the training. Upon completion of the course each participant will be certified to facilitate the 24/7 Dad curriculum. Training materials will be provided.  The NFI will provide to each participant a 24/7 Dad Curriculum Kit and an official Fathering Handbook.
