March 2024 – Sharon’s Shorts

March holds a special place in my heart, largely due to the exhilarating frenzy of March Madness in men’s and women’s college basketball. Every year, I eagerly await Selection Sunday, where the anticipation runs high as players anxiously await to hear their colleges announced in the bracket. What draws me to March Madness is the unpredictability; it’s a realm where underdogs triumph and upsets unfold with every game.

With the tournament comes our family tradition of filling out brackets and engaging in friendly bets. From reassigning household chores to breakfast in bed, the stakes vary, but the excitement remains palpable. Despite my attempts to remain impartial and analytical in my picks, I inevitably find myself caught up in the madness, cheering fervently in front of the television, all while hoping my bracket doesn’t burst!

As March transitions into April, the pace doesn’t slow down. Instead, it heralds a new wave of activity and anticipation. Locally, our prevention partners are hard at work planning for Child Abuse Prevention Month. The PCA Iowa team is bustling with preparations: ordering supplies, organizing outreach booths, recruiting volunteers, and meticulously coordinating the Child Abuse Prevention Conference. What about your organization? I’d love to hear about the events you have in store. Feel free to share a couple of photos along with a brief description—it’s always inspiring to learn about the great work happening elsewhere.
