What’s the most interesting thing about accounting?
The finality of it. I like solving little problems through numbers.
What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Every summer when I was young we’d visit my uncle’s farm in Birmingham, England. They had two wonderful dogs on the farm: Rufus and Rex. The farm raised chickens and sheep.
I remember the night I figured out that the lamb on my dinner plate that I had been eating was the same as the lambs on the farm. That night I opened the gate and let them escape. Rufus, the basset hound, barked shortly after I’d let them out and spoiled my plan. My uncle had them all back inside the gate fairly quickly.
No one was mad, I think they probably laughed and understood, but it made an impact. I didn’t grow up to become a vegetarian but I haven’t eaten lamb since that day. And I still miss visiting the farm.
