February 2024 – Sharon’s Shorts

February is the unofficial month of love and hearts. It also reminds me of this quote by American author, Elizabeth Andrew, “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” I love this quote because it encapsulates just how important volunteers are to me and the success at Prevent Child Abuse Iowa.

Our Board of Directors are filled with amazing and talented men and women that serve multiple years, attend committee meetings, help plan fundraising events, spread the word about the great work we do and so, so, much more. We also have a group of wonderful volunteers that help plan our annual Child Abuse Prevention Conference. I love it when we have students that assist in filling outreach packets for our community refrigerators. Their laughter and enthusiasm are contagious and spreads throughout the entire office.

We have lots of other opportunities for volunteers such as staffing an outreach booth, assisting at events, prepping materials for our upcoming conference, helping plan our 50th birthday party, distributing materials for Child Abuse Prevention Month, and many more opportunities.
