April is Child Abuse Prevention Month!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to help people understand that safe, stable, and nurturing relationships and environments are necessary to ensure that children thrive.

Everyone plays a role in preventing child abuse and neglect – you don’t need to have special skills or be a certain kind of person to help make great childhoods happen. All you have to be is willing.

This month, we’re recognizing and celebrating ordinary people and the modest but meaningful ways to promote healthy child development and prevent child abuse and neglect.

Small actions make a difference! It’s possible to do the things you normally do – cook, read, coach, make art, or play music – and help families and communities thrive.

Wear Blue Day

Join Prevent Child Abuse Iowa and wear blue on Friday, April 3 to show your support for children and families and reinforce the message that “everyone plays a role in making great childhoods happen – especially you.”

Gather your friends, family, co-workers, schools, and community groups to wear blue and share your photos on social media with the #WearBlue hashtag.
