Check Off Child Abuse

Children who are raised in safe, nurturing environments are more likely to grow into responsible, productive citizens. However, some families may be experiencing high levels of stress, a sense of isolation and a lack of support that make caring for their children difficult. As a community, it is our responsibility to ensure all families have the tools they need to raise happy, healthy children from the start.

Help make Iowa’s families stronger and children safer.

When you file your state income tax return, donate a portion of your refund or an additional amount on top of what you owe to Child Abuse Prevention. All contributions go to the Iowa Child Abuse Prevention Program, which benefits local services that educate and support families. Under the direction of Prevent Child Abuse Iowa, these services served over 5,000 families and 40,000 children in Iowa in 2018.

Iowa taxpayers have generously donated $660,000 over nine years to the Child Abuse Prevention Check Off. With your help, we can do even more to help ensure all Iowa’s children are raised in safe, nurturing environments.

To donate to Child Abuse Prevention, look for line 57d on Iowa Tax Form 1040. An online tax program, such as Turbo Tax, asks whether to make a contribution after the filer has reviewed the tax form and is ready to submit.
