Iowa Legislature Passes Mandatory Reporter Reform

Press Releases

During the past legislative session, PCA Iowa advocated for a revision of Iowa’s mandatory reporting guidelines. On May 8th, Governor Reynolds signed HF 731, a bill to create a streamlined, comprehensive framework that effectively executes the intention of this child and elder protection legislation.

More the 400,000 Iowans are required to be trained mandatory reporters. They learn to recognize the signs of neglect, sexual abuse, and physical abuse, then promptly report suspicions to agencies for swift response and intervention.

Thank you to our many child advocates who worked to pass HF 731 into law, strengthening the protective system for Iowa kids!
